Understanding the Difference Between our Flagship Courses: AIC and SPC

We aim to shed light on the distinction between two of our flagship courses: the Advanced Interview Course (AIC) and the Sim Preparation Course (SPC).

AIC and SPC serve distinct yet complementary purposes in preparing aspiring pilots for their career journey. Understanding the nuances of each course is crucial for candidates aiming to excel in both interview and simulation exercises. Aspiring pilots often seek clarity on the differences between our AIC and SPC courses
AIC, the Advanced Interview Course, is tailored specifically for mastering the interview stage of airline selection processes. It delves into the essential competencies sought by recruiters, offers strategic approaches to exercises, provides personalized feedback through a personality questionnaire, and equips candidates with the tools to construct comprehensive experience sheets.
On the other hand, SPC, the Sim Preparation Course, is designed to hone the skills necessary for the simulation component of assessments. Covering a diverse range of topics including aircraft handling, energy management, approach stabilization, and safety protocols, SPC offers a comprehensive 12-module curriculum to prepare candidates for simulated flight scenarios.
While both courses share modules on decision-making models, intervention models, and workload management, and AIC does talk briefly about the HR part of the Sim Assessment, but essentially, both products complete each-other and are needed if your target airline runs both an interview and a sim exercise.
ASP's commitment to holistic training extends to offering standalone purchases or package options for AIC and SPC.

Hello Guillaume, I just had my first airline interview, sorry it’s a long story but I’m sharing my feedback because I think this might be useful for others.
I’ve been flying for 10 years and professionally (not airlines) for 5 years, I’ve been to many ATOs, met many pilots, read books on the subject but never did I understand what the airline interview was all about before following the ASP course, and I thank you for that because it brings so much peace understanding the rules of games.
As I understand it’s not about telling the interviewers what they want to hear by being someone we are not, and it’s not about telling them true stories that has no use for them, but it’s about looking into our past for evidence of the competencies that they are looking for, preparing answers by funneling the key competencies that we have within ourselves and showcase them from past events, discarding irrelevant stuff, thus making their job easier and enhancing a pleasant overall experience.

I had already tried AF 2 years ago without specific preparation, result: postponed 2 years, the debriefing did not reveal any really negative points but rather errors in apprehension of the tests.
I took the Psy2 HOP in September and not wanting to make the same mistake, I took an AIC preparation at ASP, I also added a 1:1 interview supplement with Guillaume. Note that I also passed the Wizzair selections which I succeeded (also in September) The 2 selection processes are different but the AIC allowed me to better understand the expectations of recruiters.
For each of the 2 companies, I did a lot of personal work on the operating mode of the companies so as not to get caught during the interviews. As a good student, I thought about the most relevant examples I could give by filling in the boxes in the excel skills table… a bit laborious but it allows you to sort by choosing the most relevant examples.
I focused my examples on recent flights (< 3 years) but not only, especially the flight that marked you the most… there’s only one and it was 15 years ago!
I really appreciated the 16PF and the debriefing is important to understand, I think about 3/4 were common with the brief debriefing done at the end of the individual psy2 interview.
By understanding the philosophy of the individual interview, I did not go there on the defensive (like the first time) but with the spirit of dispelling the doubts they could express and confirm their expectations. For the group tests, for Wizz or Hop, I made sure to be the good second, to give everyone a chance to speak. I did not chase my nature, I just made sure not to be too enthusiastic. In my case the 1:1 interview was very profitable because I wanted to see the adequacy of the questions asked by the recruiter according to the 16PF without forgetting the debriefing that goes with it… It reassured me about my ability to succeed (even if everything is not in my hands!!!)
I also did a lot of work understanding the skills to guide my answers, without distorting the trait but just by explaining more accurately and clearly arguing. As it is explained in the courses, honesty is important and the preparatory work you do will allow you to bring clarity to your words.

The Key Competencies and examples of related questions allow me to see exactly what to expect and how to orient my speech to allow recruiters to see in me the qualities necessary for the position.

Advanced Interview Course gave me an excellent overview of what will be expected from me during an airline selection. With that in mind and all the simple models, I feel more comfortable entering the room for the interview.
Regarding the Air France selection, the big plus points of this course are for me the 16PF, the experience sheet and the option of a practice 121 interview.

I like in Advanced Interview Course the fact that Captain Guillaume goes really deep into the discussion and gives me an overall big picture of the hiring process.

The whole Advanced Interview Course is very interesting. A real fascination for human resources and recruitment process transpires from each module and make them easy to handle. In a word, I wish I had learned all of this earlier !
The CV and Cover Letter explanations are clear. Each part of CV or CL are viewed step by step and also reminded in a pdf. All examples given are relevant.

Going through the Aer Lingus and easyJet selection processes was a real experience. While I didn’t make it through Aer Lingus after reaching the simulator stage, I kept moving forward—and I’m happy to share that I succeeded in the easyJet selection this October!
Looking back, I can’t overstate how important the training I received was. The program wasn’t just about ticking boxes; it provided a structured, comprehensive approach—company knowledge, competency-based questions, simulator prep—you name it. It gave me the framework I needed to go deeper, to really understand how to stand out when it mattered most.
That preparation made all the difference on selection day. To anyone pursuing their dream, I’d say this: invest in your preparation, trust the process, and keep pushing forward.

Hi, so, I’ve just completed the CV and Cover Letter Course and I have to say, the videos are really well done! 😊 The step-by-step structure is easy to follow and sticking to the recommended word count really helps when adapting my own cover letter. It makes the process feel a lot more manageable. The same applies to the CV – by following the outlined structure, everything just falls into place naturally, which makes putting together my CV much easier than I expected.

One of the things I really love about advanced interview course is the 1:1 interview and the 16PF. It’s not just about preparing for the selection process... Those sessions actually give you a deeper understanding of yourself. Here is my feedback on your AIC course. I recently completed three assessments and passed them all. Every question asked by the psychologist and the board panel was covered in your course.
The way you break down all aspects of an assessment based on your experience is truly insightful. It allows us to know what to expect and prepares us to anticipate any kind of question, especially with the "experience sheet." Combined with the 16PF analysis and the mock interview, it’s a complete game-changer.
Not to mention the CV course, which helped me secure an invitation for all the assessments in the first place!

The Advanced Interview Course and the 1:1 Interview with Guillaume were a game changer for me. I adquired many tools not only to be prepared for an Airlinie Selection process, but also to understand better the big picture of my role as a pilot.
There is plenty information going around about these matter. But ASP is different. You can see in Guillaume and Hugo specialists that know the matter from inside and can understand your needs and give you the information an advices you need. Guillaume took extra time to help me in the 1:1 interview staying longer after ! I had technical problems with my computer to start the meeting.

What I liked most about the Sim Preparation Course were the explanations on pitch/power coupling and energy management. I believe this is one of the most important concepts for inexperienced pilots coming out of flight school to understand. The course provides a great overall picture of the classic sim.

Before attending the AIC, I had already participated in several traditional interviews (without a sim session) and was in the process of preparing for two hybrid interviews—at Wizz Air and TUI fly Belgium. I was unsure about what was expected in this type of recruitment and how to prepare effectively. The AIC provided exactly what I needed. I’m now looking forward to starting the Sim Preparation Course.

In the different scenario of the Advanced Interview Course—whether technical, CRM, SOPs, etc.—we find the same management model, decision-making model, and intervention model being applied. It’s good to know how to articulate these models clearly and understand how they are used across various situations.
I also learnt a lot in the company study section—specifically, where to look, what to read, and how to analyze a company’s specificities and strategies. This really helps in being able to present relevant and thoughtful knowledge to the assessor during the interview.
Finally, the way Guillaume gives his answers to the different interview questions and scenario is incredibly helpful for guiding the study and preparation process.

I’m happy to share that I passed the HOP selection—without even going through the sim! I’m truly grateful for your support. After two failed attempts at Air France (cadet and pro), your training gave me the clarity and structure I needed to succeed this time.

I liked the genuine, well-thought-out content in all aspects of the Advanced Interview Course. The setup of pre-recorded videos made e-learning more effective than standard classroom teaching. On top of that, the course structure was thorough and made sense. Very well done! I would strongly recommend this to anyone, from aspiring to experienced pilots. I couldn’t come up with any improvements since it’s already good enough!

"To prepare for the 2025 Air France cadet selection, I took the AIC course + CV & cover letter course and review, and 16pf + 1:1 interview with Hugo.
I just received the email informing me I had successfully passed the PSY 2 selection phase, a dream I have been working on since 2018...
The ASP packages really helped to understand the key components of the selection process and its specificities in contrast to a traditional selection (from an engineer point of view).
The CV and cover letter course was also very useful, it helped me avoid major mistakes I had done in a previous attempt in 2020. And to finish, I have to say it was a pleasure to work with Hugo on the 16PF and 1:1 interview. His advices were very helpful, and he had a very human/friendly approach which made it even more pleasant.
What I like the most about the AIC course is the way it is explained what is looked for in a good candidate (the 8 non technical skills), and how you're going to illustrate you definitely possess them."

The Operational Procedures Course was excellent. The material provided in-depth learning on new topics, and at a level I could get to grips with.
For me, the most valuable aspects were:
- Practical scenarios of NN situations in a commercial environment (incl. accident/incident reports)
- Failure management
- Insights into operations and flight management
- Insights into operations and flight management
- Focus on decision making and the role of the PM (Module 5 "Operations" and 6 "Scenarios")
I also found the "Bonus content" exceptional, I feel like I have a much deeper understanding of the pilot role in commercial aviation."

Everything is very detailed in Advanced Interview Course, the content is really useful to understand how a recruitment process works, but not only, to become a better pilot.
I guess what could only be improved... I would love to have an Android App which would help non IOS users watching the videos offline.

In Advanced Interview Course, I liked that most of all these advices are from the experienced recruiter who has been on the other side for a long time. It gives an idea what are they looking for and how they assess the candidates. Information about 8 competencies is truly amazing, because you get an idea in which areas you have to develop in order to convince the recruiters that you are the right person. Additionally, 16 PF questionnaire is very useful tool allowing you to analyze your character and work on your weak areas.

I really liked the vision given from a recruiter point of view and how it makes feel that everything makes sense. I understand better the recruitment process. It also gives a very efficient method to identify, classify relevant examples to be used. I think it opened my eyes and gave me a new look on the examples I had prepared : I realized that some of them are very rich and I didn't know that and others are not as useful as I thought as they are just stories and not key competencies proofs. The course can be downloaded and taken offline and that is a very good point, especially when taking it on the train or on stopovers where wifi isn't really good. What would be nice is that when you login again with the device used offline the progression in terms of percentage of checked modules could be synchronized. As a matter of fact, I finished all the modules but only 30% are marked as done.

Here's my feedback on my interview. Everything was very similar to what you explain in your courses and in our 1:1 session. My personality inventory highlighted the same points as the 16 PF, no surprises. I can therefore say that the preparation I did with you was very useful in approaching this interview well. I can also add that the questions asked were focused on CRM and teamwork in the cockpit as well as in the cabin. The rest of the questions were very standard. Thank you again for your advice!

Succeeded at Wizzair selection for an A320 first officer position end of July 2025, received the offer letter January 2026, start date of contract is 2nd of March 2026.
Amazing experience, this course was a game-changer for me. I really loved the format of the online course that allows you to do most of the study by yourself, and then the option of individual 1:1 and/or collective sessions to practice or work on personal situations. The course and the ASP team made all the difference between flying and never entering the cockpit. Thank you again for all your work.

Dear ASP Team, I have sucessfully passed the European Flight Academy's final assessment 🎉! This was always my biggest dream and I still can't believe it 🥺. You guys made such a big difference for me, I learned so much and will continue applying that knowledge in the future. Thank you so much for everything!
I think the biggest advice I can give out for future candidates is to properly show your motivation, know and be confident in your abilities whilst being reflective and humble, and of course keeping the 4 golden rules in mind 😄.
Looking back, joining AIC was one of the best investments I've made in my life. It made such a big difference as it taught me so much about the airline pilot role and the art of interviews. What the recruiters are looking for in candidates, and how to present yourself and the information in a structured manner.
For example, during the Interview I got asked a challenging behavioural question by recruiter. I applied the knowledge I learnt in AIC by having examples ready, and always turning it to a positive!

I recently had the privilege of a one-on-one consultation with Capt. Guillaume regarding my CV and Cover Letter, and the experience was highly rewarding. While my CV was already aligned with the standard template and required only minor refinements, he thoroughly addressed and cleared all my underlying doubts.
My primary challenge was the Cover Letter, specifically the section highlighting the prospective airline. Capt.
